PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)

Rejuvenate your skin and hair naturally with the power of plasma.

WHY PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)?

Restore smoother skin, boost your complexion’s luminosity, and enjoy thicker, fuller hair with the power of PRP.

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a powerful component of blood rich in growth factors. Growth factors are vital to the health of our skin because they aid in tissue regeneration and repair. PRP has been used for decades in Sports Medicine because of its ability to heal soft tissue injuries rapidly. However, it has only been within the last decade that the benefits of PRP have crossed over into the world of medical aesthetics to improve the health and appearance of skin and hair.

The power of PRP can be harnessed and utilized to rejuvenate the skin by boosting collagen production, enhancing circulation, and accelerating healing. Once injected with PRP, the skin will become smoother, firmer, and even brighter over several months. Although PRP can be combined with neurotoxins and dermal fillers, it is an excellent option on its own for clients wishing to rejuvenate their skin naturally without the assistance of cosmetic injectables.

Clients suffering from thinning hair may also benefit from PRP. Just as platelet-rich plasma stimulates the growth factors that rejuvenate skin, it can also stimulate hair follicles to grow thicker, longer, and healthier hair. This treatment is appropriate for both men and women and can have significant results, especially when combined with other forms of hair restoration.

THE PROCESS

Platelet-rich plasma is processed from your blood and then re-injected into the skin or scalp to stimulate key growth factors.

A consultation is required before scheduling a treatment, if you are interested in PRP rejuvenation for skin or hair. Rebecca Suess, RN, BSN, CANS, CPSN, ISPAN-F, and Michele Lukkason, RN, BSN, CANS, are PRP specialists with years of experience in hair restoration and skin rejuvenation techniques. Once they have helped determine if you are a good candidate, a PRP treatment plan will be recommended to help you achieve your natural rejuvenation goals!

A PRP treatment begins by drawing a small amount of your blood and placing it in a specialized centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the red blood cells. This plasma is then prepared for topical or injectable applications. PRP is utilized in several treatments at Refinery Skin Clinic.

This natural facial rejuvenation treatment focuses on increasing your skin’s health, vibrancy, lift, and volume. PRP is injected into your skin in areas commonly filled with dermal fillers, such as the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folders, under eyes, and jawline. Over time, this natural approach creates a more youthful face shape, smoother skin, and a luminous glow. The PRP Facelift is commonly performed with a PRP Facial and even dermal fillers, like JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC, to significantly enhance your results.

This unique facial uses SkinPen® Microneedling to create a latticework of tiny channels in your skin’s surface to absorb the platelet-rich plasma and drive it deeper into the epidermis. Your Refinery Skin Clinic Advanced Practice Esthetician will apply PRP to the skin’s surface as she microneedles the treatment area, which may include the face, neck, chest, hands, or even a scar you want to improve. The PRP Facial is wonderful for acne scarring and is highly beneficial when combined with a PRP Facelift.

This natural form of hair restoration injects PRP into your scalp to produce stronger, longer, and thicker hair by bringing dormant follicles back to life. This method benefits clients suffering from alopecia, heredity hair loss, hormonally-induced hair thinning, and male pattern baldness. Multiple treatments are needed to see optimal outcomes — but the results are worth it!

THE RESULTS

PRP results are natural and long-lasting but appear gradually over time.

After your PRP Facelift, your skin may be slightly tender and flushed. With each passing week, your skin will begin to feel and look firmer, thicker, and more lifted. Because PRP increases the micro-circulation in the skin, it is not uncommon to get compliments about how radiant you look! To maintain the results of your PRP Facelift, Refinery Skin Clinic recommends scheduling another session every 12 to 18 months and using SkinMedica’s TNS® Advanced+ Serum to continue to stimulate collagen production and rejuvenate your skin.

Following your PRP Facial, your skin will feel tight and appear flushed. Because PRP is topically applied during this method, you will be advised not to wash your face for at least 12 hours. You’ll notice smoother, tighter, and more vibrant-looking skin within three days. Within three months, you may note significant softening of acne scarring, a reduction in enlarged pores, and reduced fine lines and wrinkles. The PRP Facial is best done in a series of treatments and repeated at least once a year from there on out to continuously improve your skin and prevent the visible signs of aging. Clients can extend and enhance their PRP Facial results by using a comprehensive skincare regimen that includes SkinMedica’s TNS® Advanced+ Serum to boost collagen production and smooth skin’s texture.

After PRP Hair Restoration, your scalp will be tender and slightly inflamed. This response is normal and may take up to two weeks to entirely subside. We recommend you wear a hat for a few days after your treatment for sun protection, especially during the Summer months. New hair grows in intervals of three to four weeks, so results are not seen overnight with PRP Hair Restoration. Be patient! It can take up to three months to see new hair begin to grow in, but once it does, it will be thicker and stronger. Most of our clients note marked improvement after only one appointment, but your provider will map out a treatment plan for you based on your degree of hair loss, age, gender, and the initial health of your hair follicles.
